1983 Wauquiez Amphitrite 43

Wilmington, North Carolina

If you are searching for a capable blue water cruiser that was designed and built to exacting standards then look no further.  The Wauquiez Amphitrite 43 has a proven record to provide secure comfortable cruising.  With a long fin keel, skeg hung rudder and balanced ketch rig the boat is designed to perform in offshore conditions.

“FRENCHIE” has just returned from a two year cruise voyaging from the east coast to Grenada and north to Maine.  Her owners have moved back ashore as professional life calls but the boat has fresh bottom paint and is ready for her future owners to set sail.

  • Large secure center cockpit
  • Three cabin, two head layout
  • Spacious salon and master cabin
  • Dual reverse cycle air conditioning and heat
  • Perkins 65hp diesel

These boats are a rare find and lauded by well known cruisers such as "Fatty" and Carolyn Godlander whom are on a 2nd circumnavigation aboard GANESH, a sistership to FRENCHIE.

Beginning a walk- though from the bow to sten the guest cabin is forward and has a V-berth with filler to make a double berth, a large hatch above provides ventilation and there are steps leading up to it allowing exit through the hatch. Teak strips line the hull and there is teak cabinetry with drawers under the berth and 2 large hanging lockers to port. The forward head is equipped with a vanity, sink, toilet and shower .

Moving aft one enters the spacious Main Salon where you will find a U-shaped convertible dinette to starboard and settee to port.  The dropleaf table is large enough for all seated on port or starboard to utilize.  There is shelving outboard of each seating area. Ample storage can be found throughout the salon area.  Aft of the dinette and to starboard of the companionway is the fully equipped L-shaped galley.  The galley features a double sink, NEW Force Ten stove/oven, dedicated refrigeration and freezer compartments along with ample counter space and storage.  Just aft of the Galley is a “workshop” area designated for electronics, the generator and storage.  Access to the starboard side of the engine is through a doorway in the “workshop” area.

To the port side of the companionway is the Navigation Station followed by a walk-thru  to the Master Cabin.  The walk-thru doubles as a third cabin with a large single bunk outboard to port. The house batteries are located underneath the berth.  Access to the engine room is through double doors across from the berth.

The Master Stateroom is located aft and boasts a living area that few other boats can rival with ample natural light from the large ports aft as well as to port and starboard. A large curved seat runs along the port side with a  secondary nav station or desk forward. Ample storage can be found under the seat. Aft to starboard is the double berth with drawers and a pullout table underneath.  Just forward of the berth is the master head with full vanity, head, shower and ample storage.

Moving back to and up the companionway you will enter the large and secure center cockpit with large bimini and dodger.  There is generous seating with a pedestal mounted helm wheel and fold up cockpit table.  The deck is flush and clean allowing free movement.
